I am often sitting in some conference rooms with 55" screens. It would be a killer feature if you could simply stream you powerpoint presentation or some other things to the big screen without exposing your complete desktop. But sadly it's very limited in Modern UI mode. In desktop mode i can stream to my Samsung TV. But it's not a Microsoft certified device, so it's not provided in Modern UI.

I don't know the reason why it's running in desktop mode, but it's prevented in Modern UI mode. In reply to Bert Sachs's post on December 18, Hi, I'm also investigating the PlayTo possibility or should I say the lack of possibilities.. Bert, you mentioned the use of play to from desktop mode.. Regards Luca. In reply to luna's post on January 7, For example: In dekstop mode you can select a wmv video file in file explorer. You can reach PlayTo either by the dedicated "Play" ribbon menu of the file explorer or you can make a right click and find it in the context menu.

If i select the device the video is streamned to my Samsung TV. There is a short popup on my Samsung TV that asks me if i should allow playback. I just need to confirm this and then the video is instantly played back. This works very well in desktop mode. In Modern UI mode you can use Play to if you go to the charms bar and then the select device.

But for my case i cannot find my Samsung TV.
