I wish I could have stepped right into a position in the office if it was offered to me. Instead of having to go through all of the paperwork and interview and all of that that I had done when I first was tired. I feel that if you have experience in that company you should be higher up in full-time hiring versus somebody straight off the street.

Managers would expect your knowledge bases as a new employee be that of a senior employee with 15 plus years of service. Did not provide adequate training for expectations , very superficial and have double standards. Pros Work type. Cons Management. When I left they wanted me to sign an agreement not to sue them. I wanted something done to stop the harrassment. Not a raise. Once I left they wanted me to sign a paper sayin that I would not sue them for for mistreating me.

Undermanded and gossip is horrible. Manager was very unprofessional and backstabbing. AO didnt help out. There was a sense of commoradery when I was there. About 7 employees who I interacted very well with each other. I enjoyed working there, working relationships were great. This was primarily a new type of work for me; but I learned quite a lot and gained a great sense of fulfillment working the farmers and co-workers. Federal government benefits used to be top notch.
Noy anymore. Federal government work in the Bakken is not competitive. They do not give locality pay, only an incentive that we have to justify each year. Zero advancement opportunities. But depending where you locate it can be fun. There are approximately 30 offices in West Virginia that cover 55 counties.

Great benefits and family friendly. Paid holidays and weekends off. What training I did receive was before I had full access to all programs. I was placed in an office where I was by myself 4 out of 5 days a week.
What previous work experience is needed? Some experience is helpful, but none is required and there is a lot of training involved. The training will help you in order to be ready to work efficiently, but is much easier to do the job well if you already have some experience.

Programs include environmental quality, GIS, disaster, emergency, and defense programs. Why did you become interested in this career? I became interested in this career because I grew up on a farm and around farmers. I felt as though this would be a good job for me to help the farmers.
